David Silverberg – Spoken Word Poet

Poetry might once have been relegated to dusty tomes on untouched library shelves. But now, poetry is actually reaching the people, thanks to communities of creative, enthusiastic, and outspoken spoken-word performers. David Silverberg is the Artistic Director, founder and host of Toronto Poetry Slam (a monthly spoken word competition) and editor of Canada’s first spoken word anthology, Mic Check. David has produced spoken word concerts since 2001.

David has performed across Canada and has been a featured poet and lecturer at the Influency Poetry Salon series at the University of Toronto. He runs spoken word workshops for high school students across Ontario. David is managing editor of the social news site DigitalJournal.com. His most recent book of poetry is Bags of Wires.
